I wonder if the cat has any sense of time. At first I said "ah, no way." But if we leave him alone for a day or two, he is noticeably upset when we come home. In some really basic sense he has to think, "They have been gone a long time" because he gets worse the longer we've been gone.

Obviously the cat doesn't make plans for the future. He doesn't store extra food because he thinks it's possible we will forget to feed him. I don't know if he thinks about his childhood.

I don't know if I've ever had a moment of living in the present. Or if I have, It was probably so I could prove to myself later that I am not constantly burdened by the future. "Remember! That one time you said "F it" and did what you wanted." Yea, that one time.

I'm reading Second Coming by Walker Percy. He is from Mississippi. He lives 45 minutes from my home. He writes surprisingly fucking well, and seems to have my thoughts all the time, the ones I thought were mine.

If there is nothing new under the sun, why do we have copyright laws? Did you know that it's legal to copyright plants? I'm going to buy the rights to grass and make everyone bleach their lawn. This is actually legally possible.

Oh yea, I realized today that I'm used to the idea of being "at war". Desensitized what?

My AIM changed to gingermissippy for now. ginger@mosquitoinc.org
